I am happy to know that the Institution of Engineers (India), UP State Centre is shortly going to launch its revamped website. The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 and granted coveted Royal Charter on 9th September 1935 by His Majesty King George V with the sole objective "to promote and advance the science,practice and business of engineering in all its branches in India". Today the IEI has grown to a multi-disciplinary nationwide organization having an overall membership of 0.8 million out of which 0.25 million are the Corporate Members. It is the largest body of its kind in whole of Asia with international status and having bilateral relations with following Professional Bodies round the globe:-

1. 1. World Energy Council (WEC)
   2. World Federation of Engineering Organizatios (WEFO)
   3. International Engineering Alliance (IEA)
   4. Federation Internationale du Beton (fib)
   5. Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA)
   6. Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP)
   7. International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA)

IEI functions with and amongst Professional Engineers,Academicians & researchers and provides an array technical & value added professional services to the govt., industries, academic and engineering communities. It has got 125 State & Local Centres spread all over India and 6 overseas Chapters.

With a view to create awareness & focus on specific aspects of engineering, IEI has established 7 special interest Fora viz. National Design & Research Forum (NDRF), National Skill Development Forum (NSDF), Rural Development Forum (RDF), Water Management Forum (WMF), Sustainable Development Forum (SDF), Safety & Quality Forum (SQF) and Disaster Awareness & Mitigation Forum (DAMF).

The Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) at Hyderabad, an autonomous organ of IEI is a well established training centre imparting continuing education, refresher courses and skill development in collaboration with Central/State Govts. and Industry.

IEI serves its members in following manner:-

1. 1.Corporate Members are entitled to use title of "Chartered Engineer (India)"
   2.E-access to 5 SCOPUS indexed journals published by IEI in collaboration with globally renowned publishing house- SpringerNature.
   3.Acess to cloud based platform "ENGGtalks" for technical networking,collaboration & community learning
   4.E-copies of 'IEINEWS' & 'IEIEpitome'
   5.Entitiled to participate in technical events organized by IEI
   6.Facility of staying at 52 Guest Houses spread over important locations in India
   7.Free use of libraries at all its Centres
   8.Grant in-aid on R&D activities

I am sanguine that the members will excel in their organization by continuously updating their technical knowledge by making full use of the facilities provided by IEI. Members are also expected to fully cooperate in making IEI as a most vibrant professional organization.
